Town Clerk NewsBy Anne Curran With the arrival of Spring, perhaps you will come to the Town Clerk’s Office to obtain a fishing (or other) license, get a permit, ask for notarization of a document, or simply stop by with a question. My dedicated staff includes Deputy Clerk Barbara Pesquera, Betty Sanchirico and Rita Ross. We are all eager to help you. The Clerk’s Office is often the initial source of information about the Town, serving residents and visitors in person at Town Hall, via phone and email, by maintaining the Town’s website, and through our cable TV channels, NCTV. In addition, the Town Clerk’s Office publishes this newsletter and sends electronic communications. All residents are encouraged to subscribe to E-News as we strive to develop more e-communications across all Town Departments.
Approximately one year ago, the Town Clerk’s Office and the Communications Committee began work on an ambitious project to bring video web streaming of NCTV programming to residents. The service provides residents with the ability to watch Town Board and Planning Board meetings as well as other videos, live and on demand, through our Town website. Town Board Meeting Agendas are “indexed” by agenda item allowing the viewer to click to view a particular section of the meeting. Many agenda items now are displayed with supporting documentation attached. The same capability will soon be available for Planning Board meetings. Highlights of Video Archiving and Web Streaming:
Our part-time technical intern, Rich Walz, has played a large part in the project to make video content available through our website. Barbara Pesquera and I have completed many hours of training to learn how to implement the system. Future plans include bringing these capabilities to mobile devices. As Town Clerk, I am pleased to work in partnership with the Communications Committee to improve access to public meetings and to develop programming to inform residents about Town services, events and community news. We are always looking for community volunteers and suggestions. Contact: Comunications@northcastleny.com 2011 ELECTION INFORMATION The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011.
