FREE HOME ENERGY AUDITS
Westchester County is offering free home energy assessments to homeowners  who want to learn how they can make their homes more energy efficient and save money.  This offer will be available for 2,000 county residents on a first-come, first served basis - just call 211 to set up an appointment with an authorized contractor.  For more information, click here.

 

About Us

The Town Board established the Global Warming Task Force in September, 2007. In its first year, the Task Force met with Byram Hills District leadership and board members, as well as with members of the chamber or commerce, to start collaborative relationships. The group held several public events including discussions, film screenings and 'No Idling Day.'

In its second year, the task force expanded and formed separate committees for Energy, Transportation and Land Use. A draft action plan was created for each committee. This plan was shared with over 70 'key stakeholders' including leaders of faith, business, residential and town entities during a meeting in October 2009 at MBIA.

In December 2009, the name of the group was changed to Sustainable North Castle to emphasize our focus on raising awareness of sustainability issues among residents, schools and businesses in North Castle.

Our Mission Statement is "To support, involve and inform our community about global warming and sustainability; to acknowledge and learn from those already taking action; and to coordinate efforts to reduce our carbon footprint toward improving the health of our planet for future generations."
