The Accident Investigation Unit of the North Castle Police Department is utilized for the investigation of motor vehicle accidents where there has been a serious physical injury or a fatality. Sergeant Regen Hufnagle is the Unit Commander and oversees one Sergeant and two Police Officers assigned to the Unit. The officers assigned to the Accident Investigation Unit have all received training from the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services in Basic Accident Investigation and Intermediate Accident Investigation.
