The Unit Administrator is Lieutenant William Fisher, a 29 year veteran of the Department. The Unit Commanding Officer is Sgt. James Cuffe, an 18 year veteran of the Department. The unit is a specially trained and equipped unit within the Police Department. Comprised of four sergeants and six police officers who are specially trained in the rescue and treatment of injured or endangered persons. All members of ESU are certified as New York State Emergency Medical Technicians and have additional training in vehicle extrication and the response to, and mediation of, a variety of hazardous conditions that may arise in the community.
