Town Water and Sewer Districts
The Town of North Castle has five water districts and four sewer districts all operated by the Sewer & Water Department. The district names and origins are as follows:
- Water Districts and Annual Water Quality Reports
- Sewer Districts
Water Districts
Water District #1 is located in North White Plains and has 693 water accounts. The Valhalla well, with recently upgraded softening system, supplies water. Water is also pumped into the system from the N.Y.C. supply via the Westchester County 48" main. This water is then re-treated at our North Broadway pump house and pumped directly into the Overlook Road water storage tank for distribution.

Water District #2 is located in Windmill Farms with 372 service connections. The system, with four functional wells, has recently been modified with new pump equipment, controls and emergency power. The Water Department recently received an award from the Westchester Water Works Conference for the modification of this system. The original 200,000 gallon water storage tank on Evergreen Row has been replaced with a 600,000 gallon tank. Also, work has begun on construction of a new production well.

Water District #5 is located in the Whippoorwill section of town and has 117 service connections. Water is currently purchased from North Castle Water District No. 4; a back-up connection still exists with the Town of New Castle for emergencies and fire protection. Recently, the Water Department received an award from the Westchester Water Works Conference for significant water loss reduction achieved by incorporating an innovative meter replacement program. The department also received an award for the interconnection of Water District Nos. 4 and 5.

Water District #7 is a recently constructed distribution system which interconnects the School Street and Bedford Road sections of Water District #4. This interconnection provides water to both the Wampus and Crittenden schools as well as Wampus and MacDonald Avenue residents. Currently the district has 25 service connections.

Water delivered to the tap in all districts is chlorinated to ensure that the water remains free of bacteria (a Health Dept. requirement). Monitoring of water quality is performed daily by Water Department personnel. Other required monitoring samples are analyzed by the Westchester County Laboratory and other New York State Certified Laboratories.
Annual water quality reports are required by the Health department to be delivered by May 31st of each year. Data within the reports is for the previous calendar year. Below are the most recent reports for your district.
Sewer Districts
Sewer District #1 is located in North White Plains. The department maintains the manholes and trunk lines.
Sewer District #2 is located in the downtown Armonk area. The district includes five sewer pump stations along with collection lines and manholes. All flow ends up at the wastewater plant which has recently been upgraded to treat 450,000 gallons per day.
Sewer District #3 is located in the vicinity of Route 120 & New King Street. The district consists of three sewer pump stations where sewage is collected and pumped to a Westchester County system.
Sewer District #4 is located at Old Orchard Street in Quarry Heights, is a small collection system and pump station which conveys sewage through the Town of Harrison to a Westchester County plant.
