Cablevision Channel 20, our local Cablevision television station in Armonk and Banksville was launched in May, 2005. The government/education access channel is a joint effort sponsored by the Town of North Castle and the Byram Hills School District.
This local Cablevision channel is on the air 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in the Armonk and Banksville areas of North Castle. Town Board and Planning Board meetings are cablecast. A message board is broadcast displaying information about Town services, emergency notices and School District bulletins.
Town Clerk Leber’s office arranges the taping and cablecasting of Town Board meetings and maintains the Town message board.

VERIZON CABLE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT
The Town Board adopted a cable television franchise agreement with Verizon on May 16, 2007 and the New York Public Service Commission issued an Order and Certificate of Confirmation effective June 22, 2007.
VERIZON FIOS TV SERVICE
Channel 38 and Plans for a New Government Channel
Many residents are now able to receive 100% digital FIOS TV which provides market competition to Cablevision and satellite TV. As of April, the FIOS TV network has been built-out to reach over 83% of North Castle. The Franchise Agreement specifies a graduated build-out schedule with full coverage of the Town by January, 2012.*
The Verizon Agreement provides for four origination points from which to transmit Public, Educational and Government (PEG) Access programming. The Agreement also stipulates that Verizon supply grant money to establish facilities for cablecasting. The first site, Byram Hills High School, became operational in January, 2008. Currently, the same Educational/Government programming received on Cablevision Channel 20 is received by Verizon FIOS TV subscribers on Channel 38.
The second Verizon origination point is under construction at Town Hall. The fiber optic connectivity has been established, and we are now working to complete installation of equipment. We look forward to providing Verizon FIOS TV subscribers a new Government Access channel which will be programmed and maintained at Town Hall. Look for cable TV news and the announcement of our channel’s live debut on northcastleny.com.
