CAMP CHIPPEWA
Program #421366
(finishing Grades K-7)
Betsy Musso, Director

REGISTER EARLY – LIMITED ENROLLMENT IN ALL GROUPS
Welcome to Camp Chippewa 2008. Camp Chippewa is a diversified program which enables each camper to grow socially and emotionally in a low key fun atmosphere. Campers will have the opportunity to mingle with their friends as well as begin new friendships. Camp Chippewa offers a wide range of activities from archery to rocketry, trips, special events, nature, music, swimming, crafts, bowling…etc.

We will be utilizing the Anita Louise Ehrman Pool for all of our swimming programs and activities. The complex is state of the art, contains 5 pools and is fully heated. In addition to the new pool, we will be adding cool zones (high pressure misters) on camp grounds to help beat the heat.

Betsy Musso returns for her second season as Camp Director. Betsy along with the Recreation Department Staff have a great summer planned for North Castle youngsters.

WHERE: CAMP CHIPPEWA IS LOCATED AT THE WAMPUS SCHOOL (location subject to change). Camper programs use classrooms and the Wampus playfields. The Anita Louise Ehrman Pool is used for swimming.

WHEN: Camp Chippewa runs for six weeks beginning July 7th through August 14th, rain or shine. Two week sessions are available but fees are higher for partial registration. Camp hours are from 9:00am – 3:00pm.

TRANSPORTATION: Buses are available from most areas of the town. At dismissal time, campers may take the bus going by the Ehrman Pool if their families are pool members and the camp has been notified. A bus schedule will be available in mid-June and may be picked up at the Recreation Office or at Parent Orientation Night or viewed online.

TRIPS: Campers will be given information to take home about trips.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: A full-time nurse is on staff. Parents will be called when a child is ill. Camp Chippewa is required to meet safety standards mandated by the New York State Department of Health. OUR MEDICAL/REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE COMPLETED FOR EACH CAMPER EACH YEAR (DO NOT ATTACH THE DOCTOR’S FORM – COPY INFORMATION ONTO OUR FORM). INCOMPLETE FORMS WILL BE RETURNED AND A PLACE WILL NOT BE HELD.These forms may be picked up at the Recreation Office, Town Hall or the North Castle Community Center. SPECIAL FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT IF YOUR CHILD REQUIRES MEDICATION OF ANY KIND. These forms require a doctor’s signature and are available at the Recreation Office. The camp nurse CANNOT and WILL NOT give out any medication, either prescription or over the counter without these signed forms as well as a note signed by the parent.

PLACEMENT: Chippewa Camp placement requests are limited to ONE CAMPER ONLY. If you choose to make a placement request, it MUST be made when the registration form is submitted. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS or CHANGES made after the registrations are received. We do not honor “negative” requests. No transfers will be made after a request is honored. Group lists will be available at parent orientation, not before!

FOOD REQUIREMENTS: Campers are required to bring their own lunch. It is recommended that a cold pack be included in a knapsack or lunch box so that food doesn’t spoil. Perishable items should be avoided.

CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS: Each camper should have a swim suit and towel each day. Parents are asked to listen to weather reports and provide campers with appropriate clothing. Hats and sunscreen are recommended. Indoor activities are planned for rainy days. Please label everything your child wears or brings to camp!! Check the Lost & Found Box often and especially the last week of camp.

CAMP REGISTRATION: The suggested minimum registration is for a two week session. Families have the flexibility to choose any weekly sessions to accommodate their summer schedule. Reduced rates apply for a second child.

*Please Note: If you have children attending different camps, the Chippewa camper is the first child rate. If you have any questions, please call 273-3325.
