All North Castle residents, age 59 and older are eligible to participate in the Adult Club as well as any Senior Lifestyle program.  Call 273-2944 to register for any of the programs offered.

Program meets every Wednesday at the North Castle Community Center in North White Plains from 11:00am-3:00pm and on Monday and Thursday year-round at the Hergenhan Recreation Center in Armonk from 10:00am-3:00pm.  Activities include arts & crafts, music, cards, ceramics, watercolor, computers, fitness, films, speakers, trips, etc.

Calm Breath & Stretch Yoga/Exercise – Designed to increase joint mobility, bone density, muscle strength and flexibility as well as improve endurance, posture and balance. Peggy Ann Raiskums

Watercolor & Mixed Media – You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy mixed media. Create colorful postcards, greeting cards and painting using watercolor, ink and colored pencils. Olympia Gambacorta

Holiday Craft Workshop – Create a festive centerpiece for your holiday table. Olympia Gambacorta

Knitting Club – Join other seniors in making projects and sweaters for children. All levels

Book Club – Enjoy discussing the latest books with others. Lead by one of the town’s librarians. Maureen Petre

Choral Group – Calling all those who love to sing to join our group and share the joy of singing. Lois Colombo

Transportation: van pick-up and return for those without transportation.

A monthly calendar of trips and activities may be obtained by calling Tina Reno at 273-2944, Mon., Tues. or Thurs. between 9:00am and 4:00pm. In addition to the daily programs and luncheons and parties, the Senior Center offers numerous trips and events.

Service is provided to assist North Castle Seniors that need transportation to and from doctor’s appointments. Transportation will be available on Tuesdays for appointments between the hours of 8:30am and 1:00pm. This service is on a first come, first serve basis and is restricted to North Castle and its surrounding areas. Please call (914)273-2944 as soon as possible if you require transportation. There is a $5.00 charge.

The Senior bus is available on Wednesdays for shopping and transportation to the Community Center Adult Club. It is also available on Mondays and Thursdays for shopping and transportation to the Armonk Adult Club. Based on need, we will extend transportation. This service is open to all seniors. Please call 273-2944 if interested.

SENIOR EVENTS

Luncheons/Other Trips will be announced in our monthly bulletins. Come join us any Monday or Thursday at the Armonk Center or Wednesday at the No. White Plains Center. Call 273-2944 for transportation, information, or to be added to the mailing list for the monthly calendar.

HANDS-ON COMPUTER LESSONS FOR SENIORS-SeniorNet
Beginner to Experienced
Become acquainted with word processing and the Internet. Learn step by step how to e-mail, make travel arrangements, shop online, research a project. Mastered that? Sign up for courses on family budgets, spreadsheets, digital photos, even tax filing.

These modestly-priced lessons for people 50 and up are designed specifically for older adults by the international, nonprofit organization, SeniorNet, which sponsors 240 Learning Centers worldwide. North Castle’s branch is in the Town Hall Annex, where classes are conducted by local professionals, all volunteers. Classes are limited to eight students, each working at a new Dell computer with a large flat panel display for ease of viewing. Each class has an instructor and one or more coaches working as a team.

All courses are $50. An annual $40 fee for SeniorNet membership is required with the first enrollment. Subsequent courses in any 12-month period remain at $50.
