Mercury is a hazardous material. Westchester County accepts hazardous waste at the Household Material Recovery Facility located on the Grasslands Campus, 15 Woodlands Road, Valhalla. A small fee will be assessed to residents of North Castle.

 

Any other color liquid indicates a non-mercury containing thermometer that can be disposed of in your household waste. Wrap in paper and tape before discarding to avoid any hazard from broken glass.

Additional Information

Silver liquid within the thermometer indicates mercury, a toxic metal that must be disposed of properly. This item cannot be placed with your waste for pickup.
