U.S. Census Bureau - Positions Available

The U.S. Census Bureau is now recruiting local residents for temporary part-time positions for the 2010 Census. The pay for field workers is $18 - $20 per hour. Working hours are flexible and the work is close to home.

Census takers’ jobs are excellent for retirees, college students, persons who want to work part-time, people between jobs and anyone who wants to earn extra money performing an important service for their community.

In order to apply to become a census worker you must pass a written test and be over 18 years of age. U.S. citizens are given preference. Census exams will be given in the local area in December and January.   The exam and application process takes about 2 hours.

You must register to take the exam by calling 1 866-861-2010. More information about the 2010 Census and census jobs can be found on the web at www.2010censusjobs.gov.

Tuesday - Supervisor's Office and Finance Dept., 15 Bedford Rd.

Wednesday - Tax Receiver's Office, 17 Bedford Rd.

Thursday  - Building Dept., 17 Bedford Rd.

Friday -  Town Clerk's Office,  15 Bedford Rd.

Notarizations are usually available at these locations between the hours of 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

 

Westchester County Special Needs Registry

Residents who would need special assistance if they had to leave their homes in an emergency should sign up for Westchester County's Special Needs Registry.

The new registry, coordinated by the Department of
Emergency Services, is for people with physical or mental disabilities
who live on their own. While the database is confidential, it will be
shared with local municipalities to use in their emergency planning
efforts.

Register by calling 2-1-1, or go to www.westchestergov.com/specialneeds
or request an application from the Office of Emergency Management at (914) 864-5450.

People may register a family member or friend in need.

I-287 Stage III Reconstruction Project

Started in August of 2006, the I-287 Cross Westchester Expressway Stage III Reconstruction Project is a three-plus year effort to rehabilitate the I-287 roadway in both directions, covering a distance of 1.8 miles between Interchanges 6 and 8.

The assigned Community Liaison, Greg Kisloff, can provide up-to-date project information, and respond to project related complaints and inquiries.  Greg can be reached Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at: 914 253-0595.

CALL 2-1-1 for information regarding essential human care services --- from substance abuse to child care or elder care.
