OUR MISSION

Stayin’ Alive, Inc. is a 501 (c)3 charity that supports the First Responders of Northern Westchester, New York. We combine funds raised through an annual 5K Fun Run, grants, and donations from individuals to provide equipment to our emergency responders that is not covered in their annual budget. Your generous support helps these men and women provide the best service possible to our community while keeping them safe in potentially dangerous situations. Race Info**

Live in Person: October 5th, 2024, 8am in Armonk, NY
Virtual: October 4th-6th, 2024

5k starts at 8am, Fun Run starts at completion of 5K. Fun Run is .6mile, 1 lap around Windmill Lake. Awards Ceremony following the end of Fun Run – prizes in all race categories. Event will be Rain or Shine.

All 5K racers will receive a certificate via email. Only “Live in Person” racers are eligible for race awards. All Virtual racers must submit their time by Sunday, October 6th at 6pm to be included in the final Race Results.

Parking will be available in the Windmill Club for the first 40 cars (10 Maple Way). There will be no parking in the Windmill parking lot or at the Tennis Courts. Access to the club by vehicle will close at 7:15am and you will not be able to exit until 9:30am. Please plan appropriately.

There will be a 5K Pre-race Packet Pickup / Early Registration on October 3rd from 7-9PM at the Armonk Fire Department, 400 Bedford Road, Armonk, NY 10504. Feel free to come in and pick up your Bib and Race Bag to avoid lines on race day. ** Please park in the front lot next to Route 22, so that no one is in the way if the Fire Dept gets any calls. Enter through the door right under the clock and make a left into the Meeting Room.

Same Day Registration will be from 7-7:30am on Race Day to register or to pick up Bib and Race Bag.

The purpose of the Stayin’ Alive grant program is to improve and enhance the services provided by and for local volunteer fire departments, EMS and EMT’s.

Grants are available to volunteer fire departments, EMS, EMT’s and support services to these entities located within Northern Westchester, NY.

Congratulations to the 2017 Grant Award Winners. We awarded almost $30,000 in grants and equipment gifts. Thank you for all you do to keep our communities safe!
Armonk Independent Fire Company – Hose Drying Rack, (4) Personal CO Meters, (2) Rope Reels for ice-rescue emergencies.

Banksville Independent Fire Company – Blowhard Fan.

Bedford Hills Fire Department -(4) Elkhart Brass – XD Shutoff Smoothbore Nozzles – used for extreme heavy use, ideal for structural firefighting.

North Castle Police Deptartment – (2) Cameras / LPRs (license plate readers) that provide real time feedback to RTC (Real Time Crime Center in Westchester) – for stolen vehicles,
wanted persons, stolen plates, possible terrorists. The info is immediately relayed to NCPD and officers in neighboring jurisdictions to immediately address any situation that arises.  

North White Plains Fire Department – Turnout Gear Dryer.

Pleasantville Fire District – Holmatro Mini Cutter – for vehicle extrication in confined spaces.

Thornwood Fire District – (4) Apple iPAD Air Devices with 5G cellular capabilities and 1 year subscription on 5G cellular service – used for apparatus location, gps navigation, incident reporting, training and education.

Union Hook and Ladder Company – (2) Thermal Imaging Cameras, (6) CO Detectors.

Valhalla Fire District – Upgrade the EOC (emergency operations center) – 2 computers, 2 monitors to replace their current smartboard, keyboards, mountings; To assist the dept during major storms w self-dispatching.

Armonk Independent Fire Company – Hose Rolling Machine and various attachments – to reduce the time to drain, roll and repack the hose and reduce potential injuries to the firefighters.

Banksville Independent Fire Company – 2 Cold water/ice rescue suit kits, 2 rescue rings, 2 headlamps – all used in cold water/ice rescue operations.

Bedford Fire Department – Kimtek EMS Bed and fee for installation of radios and emergency lighting in vehicle – to outfit their donated Polaris Ranger UTV vehicle.

Bedford Hills Fire Department – (4) Elkhart Brass Select O Matic XD Adjustable Flow Nozzles – Nozzle adjusts to fluctuating water supply conditions to maintain effective pressure and a consistent fire stream in all flow ranges. 

Chappaqua Fire Department – Firesled Door Breaching Simulator – used for Firefighter fitness training, forcible entry practice and part of their TOAC course.

Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps – Welch Allyn Connex Vital Signs Monitor and Wall Mount – a digital vital signs monitor that frees up the EMT to perform other tasks while the monitor prominently displays the key data needed.

Continental Village Volunteer Fire Dept – Air Bag Rescue Set 3 bag, Lift Bag, (2) Shut off 12 Bar – used to stabilize vehicles, help free trapped individuals, lift vehicles when people are trapped underneath, free trapped limbs after an accident.

Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps – 4) Active Shooter throw bags, (60) CAT Tourniquets, (20) Chest Seal Dressings, (60) QuikClot hemostatic dressings – ensure ability to respond to life-threatening emergencies at active shooter events and other recreational outdoor events. 

Mt. Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps – Masimo RAD-57 CO Monitor – Reads the carbon monoxide Levels in an adult and child’s blood in the event of a carbon monoxide exposure.

Pleasantville Volunteer Fire DepartmentWilliams Turnout Gear Dryer. This equipment ensures that protective gear is properly dried to prevent contamination with carcinogens and other types of toxins. Many Firefighters have been diagnosed with forms of cancer that are directly related to wearing contaminated turnout gear.

Thornwood Fire Department 6 Personal Firefighting Helmet Flashlight station kits – each kit includes a 6 flashlights, chargers and helmet clips (36 in total)

South Salem Volunteer Fire Department, Inc – 3 Air Cylinders to be used with existing Self- Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

North White Plains Fire Department – Chief Andrew Seicol; $5,000 to help fund the purchase of a Bullard Thermal Imaging Camera. Please see explanation following Banksville Independent Fire Company.

Thornwood Fire District. – $5,000 to help fund the purchase of a Commercial Turnout Gear Dryer. This equipment ensures that protective gear is properly dried to prevent contamination with carcinogens and other types of toxins. Town of North Castle Police Department – Chief Pete Simonsen and Sergeant Timothy See; $16,500 gift of Modern High-Pressure Hydraulic Rescue Tools (aka “Jaws of Life”). These tools will allow for quicker and safer extrication operations. In addition, this equipment will revitalize and re-equip the Emergency Service Unit in the Town of North Castle.

Armonk Independent Fire Company – Chief Carlos Cano; $5,000 to help fund the purchase of a Lucas 2 CPR Chest Compression System. A Lucas 2 System helps improve outcomes of sudden cardiac arrest victims and improve operations for medical responders.

Banksville Independent Fire Company– Chief Walter Watson; $5,000 to help fund the purchase of a Bullard Thermal Imaging Camera. A thermal imaging camera allows Firefighters to view heat in a given area. This includes locating a fire or victims within a building or outside a building, locating victims at a motor vehicle accident or during a large area search effort.
