Supervisor's Update February 27, 2024

I’m excited to share the progress that has been made over my first two months as Town Supervisor. The past few weeks have been exceptionally busy, filled with numerous meetings and productive engagements with various Town Board members and North Castle Department Heads. I’ve had the opportunity to tour various town facilities, gaining valuable insights into their operations and potential areas of improvement.

I’m pleased to report significant progress on several fronts. We’re focused on enhancing recreational facilities throughout North Castle. We are making strides in improving various infrastructure. In collaboration with Councilman Matt Milim, we have met with architects and stakeholders to develop plans to revitalize the town pool and improve the IBM fields. Additionally, we are exploring ways to enhance the Clover Road Field for our residents, emphasizing our dedication to providing quality recreational facilities.

In alignment with our commitment to community safety and service, we are delighted to welcome two new Police Officers to the town of North Castle. Welcome Officer Brandon Hickey and Matthew Barsanti to our wonderful town! Additionally, with the assistance of Police Chief Simonsen, we aim to bolster staffing to enhance public safety throughout all of our hamlets. Furthermore, congratulations to Officer Anthony Sabatella who was promoted to Police Sergeant. His promotion reflects our commitment to recognizing and fostering talent within our police force.

In recent weeks, I’ve had the privilege of holding two productive meetings with Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Lamia and the School Board, during which we toured all four school buildings alongside Councilman Saleem Hussain. This collaborative effort underscores our commitment to fostering strong ties between the town and Byram Hills School District.

Moreover, I’m excited about the recent rollout of our composting initiative, with bins now available for purchase at Town Hall. This initiative aligns with our sustainability goals and reflects our ongoing efforts promote environmentally-friendly practices.  This initiative was made possible with the help and guidance of Councilman Jose Berra along with the Recycling and Sustainability Committee. I also had the opportunity to attend Councilman Barbara DiGiacinto’s monthly North White Plains community meeting, gaining valuable insights into the ideas and concerns of some of our North White Plains residents.

The Eagle Project is well underway, with repairs being carried out at Signs Ink. We continue to have productive discussions held with local businessmen to enhance the lighting and structure surrounding the Eagle installation. Materials such as galvanized poles and anchor bolts have been ordered. Foundation work will begin the second week of March, weather permitting of course. Once the work is completed, we will coordinate with our Eagle Committee on a celebration to reinstall the Eagle, symbolizing our commitment to enhancing our town’s identity and pride.

Lastly, I’m pleased to share some exciting activities within North Castle.  The Parks and Recreation Department recently published their Spring/Summer Brochure, showcasing a wide array of fun and engaging programs for residents of all ages. Registration for these programs is March 6th to March 12th. The Park and Recreation Department is having their annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 23rd at 12:30 PM at IBM Community Park Track Field. Lastly don’t forget to check out all the exciting programs through the North Castle libraries such as Chess Club every other Saturday at the Armonk branch and Chair Yoga at the North White Plains branch. Please visit their website for up-to-date events at North Castle Library.
