Official Town Seal

Excerpt from the Town Board minutes of January 2, 1967:

Councilman Lander reported that he, together with Frank Foster, have, after a year's study and work, prepared a new Town seal as outlined and impressed below; that in conformity with the previous actions of the Town Board, this new official North Castle seal illustrates (top left) the Town's participation in the American Revolution; (top right) the corn, wheat and potatoes that were once North Castle's agricultural staples; (lower left) the shoe on the last is a reminder that North Castle was the birthplace of custom-made shoes (a prosperous home industry from 1850 to 1870); (lower right) a map of the Town "Erected 1736", date of the first town government, and "Incorporated 1788", as one of Westchester's original towns. The new seal replaces a plain one designed by William H. Creemer, Town Clerk in 1879.
