Supervisor's Update March 2024

As spring has sprung, we're eagerly anticipating warmer weather and the sight of beautiful flowers blooming throughout our town. It's a season of renewal and growth, and I'm thrilled to share some exciting updates with you.

Over the past month, I've had the opportunity to meet with various local and countywide government officials. During these meetings, productive discussions were held regarding collaborative efforts between the county government and the Town of North Castle. County Executive George Latimer, Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins and their team visited Town Hall. During their visit, we discussed how the county government can assist North Castle and work together to implement infrastructure improvements for our residents. This collaborative effort extends not only to North Castle but also to the greater Westchester area. The county has offered its support for several local initiatives. Together with the County Executive and our Legislative representative Margaret A. Cunzio, I'm optimistic about the positive changes we can achieve through these partnerships. I will continue to share updates on these infrastructure projects as we work on them.

I wanted to share a few upcoming events happening throughout North Castle. Next Saturday, March 30th, the North Castle Recreation and Parks Department is hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt for Pre-K to fifth graders. The first hunt begins at 10:30 AM SHARP at the IBM Community Park Track and Field. Then a second hunt, at 12:30 PM SHARP, at the North Castle Community Center Field.

The Town wide Clean Up Day is on Saturday, April 20th. We encourage all residents, young and old to participate in this rewarding activity. Let's come together as a community and help keep our beautiful town clean of litter. More details to come on the Town website regarding times and locations for Clean Up Day. The Fol de Rol organized and hosted by the Armonk Lions Club is scheduled for June 6th to June 9th. The plans for this fun community event are underway. Stay tuned for more details!

At this week’s Town Board Meeting, the Town Board voted to establish a North Castle Revolutionary War 250 Steering Committee. The mission of the committee is to commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States while highlighting the importance of North Castle. Engaging events and educational initiatives are in the planning stages. The Steering Committee will consist of Co-Chairs Edward Woodyard and Richard Nardi along with Town Council Members Barbara DiGiacinto and Matt Milim.

Some exciting Eagle news! The galvanized poles for the Eagle structure are expected to arrive in about two weeks. While the actual Eagle is still in progress at Signs Ink, we anticipate its completion within the next three to four weeks. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting project!

On Monday, March 25th the Lighting and Electric Replacement Project will begin at Wampus Brook Park.  This work is expected to take about three weeks, weather permitting. There will be some temporary lighting during this time, but it will not be as bright as the hardline posts. The Recreation and Parks Department asks that all residents steer clear of work areas during the project. This is a huge upgrade to the infrastructure of Wampus Brook Park.

In other exciting news, the Byram Hills Mock Trial Team secured the County Championship at the Federal Courthouse in White Plains this week. They triumphed in the Finals after a closely contested match versus Edgemont. Congratulations to High School students Jake Fenster, Adrianna Zawojek, Aaron Stein, Ashley Stangel, Andrew Levy and Jessie Freiberg and their co-coaches Matt Allen and Martin Gilbert and attorney coach Elliot Shuman on a phenomenal win! Good luck in the Regional Tournament and go Bobcats!

A friendly reminder when recycling your plastic, glass and metal: please avoid using plastic bags. Let's do our part to promote sustainability and keep our environment clean. This continues to be an issue for our waste disposal company Suburban Carting. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this matter.

As always, your feedback and participation is invaluable to us. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Wishing you all a wonderful spring season filled with joy and community spirit!
